Eolya - Hávámal

The following sound pearl collection is for all who love Norse mythology, who get out their spear at the first drum beats, who still feel connected to nature in their deepest heart, who think ravens are charming birds and who love the hurdy-gurdy. Because with this, the didgeridoo, drums and full body effort, the musician Eolya creates a mystical experience.

"Hávamál", the title of the album, means Words of the High One. The cliché of the aggressive Viking is exchanged for a peaceful image of a Northman to whom spirituality is more important than the hatchet. Each song is infused with mysticism and a touch of 'once upon a time'.

For the artist, music is a combination of modernity and tradition. And so his love for Norse myths made him travel north, learn Old Norwegian and follow in the footsteps of tribal Celtic culture. The Old Norse is that of the Edda, the founding mythology of the North. Pages filled with mythical creatures, gods spreading chaos, and brave people performing heroic deeds. Material for Hollywood. Or even grandiose music.

Eolya sets original lines from the Edda to music and manages to act like a storyteller. He plays with polyphony, rhythm and guttural sounds. The puff with which he can sometimes hold the high notes is more than enviable and often causes goose bumps. Also this desperation with which he shouts out the high notes convinced me immediately. It makes you want to put the feather collection in your hair and use the mascara for war paint.

And all of a sudden you're standing in the middle of the forest wondering how the sword got into your hand. It also smells a bit like a campfire here... Loki, here I come....
