Junipa Gold - Something Divine
It's getting light in the night again, because an exciting new star has appeared in the rock sky. If you like good rock without a lot of fuss but with a lot of boom in your ears, Junipa Gold is the right choice. Music that is characterized by passion, anger and the courage to finally be big and loud.
First and foremost, the four want to be authentic and bring their passion for rock into the right light, or rather, into the right auditory channels. Their musical influences are as diverse as the four points of the compass and yet they meet in the middle of the rock empire.
Power and front woman Mia Berchtold brings sex appeal, rock brat feeling and velvet voice under one hat. She writes the lyrics and together with her three men Fabio, Sascha and Pascal they construct their sound pearls to a rocking pleasure. Setting the tone is especially their singing, which is able to sound soft and powerful at the same time. Unconventional melodies with powerful guitar riffs and a drive that brings fun show: the four know what they are doing... listen to their EP 'Something Divine' (ROLA RECORDS).
When The Kingdoms Collide is a powerful harmony into the EP and lets you guess that we are dealing with a new rock great. The rocking along effect is given. By the chorus at the latest, everyone is in with at least a nod of the head. A full sound carpet on which power woman Mia spreads. This sound pearl is really fun.
The single Raging River starts softly, we get to know the soft side of Mia's voice. It builds up to Raging River and overflows. The bridge is like a rage-filled whisper, an intake of breath before the volcano erupts. Despair and rage are close together. "I used to be a kid who never talked much about things that were bothering me. I learned really late, unfortunately, how good it is to let it all out and scream and cry. I guess Raging River is my message to this kid who thinks he has to work everything out with himself." M. Berchtold
In the same tone is the next sonic gem Who's Gonna Pay The Price, which is about shedding ballast, or the dark shadow that you don't even know how it got to you, but has been haunting you for years. Someone pays the price...Strong drums lead in this song - shaking up is the order of the day. Like La Liberté, one calls for revolt.
Something Divine, the title track, is an example of how idiosyncratic and unexpected the melodic lead can be at times. Especially in the verses the four go wild. The chorus is then again of the type 'mir gehört die Welt' in which the front woman gives everything. Her three men spread the necessary sound carpet for her. Clearly, who wears the pants here...
With Waste it the EP ends in dirty rock style. Especially during the guitar solo definitely turn up the volume.
Lets waste it all!
