Chloe Gallardo - God Is Dead
Delicate, most delicate = newcomer Chloe Gallardo. Like a flower, the artist unfolds in her new single God Is Dead. She captivates with her bright and dreamy soundscapes, on which she performs in a minimalistic yet sensitive way.
With her first single Last Dance, Chloe Gallardo had already attracted attention in the media landscape. Now she follows up with God Is Dead. While the first sound pearl was still about an unhappy love affair, the new single is even darker. The cruel subject matter contradicts the acoustic softness and beauty with which the musician enchanted me. Her style moves between indie pop and dark shoegaze, includes some folk elements, and lives from this wonderful interplay of light and dark. And from her almost hesitant vocals. She is inspired by bands like Broadcast and My Bloody Valentine.
The self-proclaimed "Destroyer Of Worlds" on Instagram says about her new single that she will probably never perform it live, because the subject matter goes to her heart too much. Now you might wonder why you would release a song like that, but as soon as you get into the lyrics, everything becomes clear. God Is Dead impressively shows the discrepancy between having to show, wanting to show, and being able to show. So important it is to shine a light on abuse cases (have to) and not stand alone with the pain. That's how brave it is to show up with it and reveal your version (want to). So understandable is the emotional hurdle that (can) come with it. Art serves as a language for pain. Kudos to you for this openness.
We can expect more of this disarming fragility in the future, as the newcomer from California releases her debut album Defamaor on 12.5. An album made up of stories of betrayal in love and friendship.
