Normcore - Out Now!
If you like rock music of the 90s, you have found a band that resurrects the good old vibe with Normcore. In 2014, the four musicians found each other in Montreuil. Influenced by alternative American rock groups of the 90s - Weezer (in their early days), Dinosaur Jr. and Blink 182 ( every single note of 'Take Off Your Pants And Jacket') - they let it rip.
'Six Pack' was their first release of 2019 and has already been able to generate initial media attention. Now they want to really take off. In self-mixed manner - only supported by Cyril Camu - appeared 'Our Now!' (Fish & Cheap Factory) in January of this year. A whole four times they had to postpone the release. All the more we are looking forward to it now.
The album is the result of a summer session in 2020. After three months of isolation and a canceled tour, the four met for a few days in Normandy. Combining great euphoria and adverse circumstances, they hunkered down to perfect, complete and record their demos.
Seven sound pearls have become it altogether. And as promised above, the French revive musical landscapes from the 90s. The simple, honest skate punk rock à la grunge is back. A little bit retro has to be. At the same time they remain modern and open to further style mixes. The usual rock sounds are joined by keyboard sounds, pan flutes and polyphonic harmonies and - ou guess it- RnB choirs.
And yet, in principle, it has become simple and honest rock. The motley songs of the EP live on snappy guitar riffs and rousing rhythms. No note stays on the other, pure variety. And that seven times in a row.
Music that brings a breath of fresh air into the scene and really does you good.
