Walter Subject - Signals
Do you dance? You should dance…
Should aliens ever land on our planet, Walter Subject would be well prepared. The biggest welcome party on earth would certainly contain their song Signals. Because they invite to dance with aliens. Dance is a keyword today anyway because they are very fond of movement, these guys.
The music of Walter Subject consists of catchy melodies, profound messages, strong guitar riffs, and a positive drive that infects you.
Founded in 2008 by singer Marc Ruff and drummer Udo Neugebauer, bassist Christoph Kluck and guitarists Manuel Randecker and Dominik Prause followed the call of rock shortly after. Since then it went steadily uphill. Nationwide gigs, festivals, band contests, and the first studio album 'We Are The Subjects' with support from producer Siggi Bemm followed. It went further uphill with concerts, videos and first places and the second album of the guys from Reutlingen 'Just Dance Like Nobody Is Watching'. And now the album Signals (Dr. Music Records).
The LP Signals was released at the beginning of March and contains thirteen sound pearls. They have a nice drive and catchy melodies that are all danceable yet invite the occasional headbang moment (Give it to me). Melodic rock, suitable for the masses and yet special. Bounce quality rock (Don't Rush). The quietest song I could discover is the love song 1000 Years. Shiver is the sexiest song on the album and my favorite Walter Subject song so far. You can dance to it, of course. But there is another way. The first single Warm Inside denounces the superficial world of social media with its hunt for likes and profit. They are more profound than it seems at first. We feel moments of nostalgia in the closing song Yesteryear, which is so mine... The namesake single of the album Signals invites as already promised above to dance with aliens. Since these surely already observe us, it can probably not take much longer until they follow the invitation.
